RECAP: “PRÊT-À-PORTER SF” 2011

This year’s “PRÊT-À-PORTER SF” 2011, with mass market in mind, was an amalgamation of global fashion, technology and sophistication.   Designers hailed from Ireland, The Middle East, South Africa, Thailand, China, Russia and the United States, which was a genuine representation of today’s global fashion.  Sustainable fashion and technology were also an apparent theme, with Carol Wang’s presentation of bamboo fabrics, Sonas Denim’s literal take on recycling of denims and the stylish integration of advanced materials and design with personal media technology by Alphyn Industries. Anya Tatarenko, Kajan Padraig  and LHC Couture with WorkPlayDate and Sasha Maksutenko jewelries, brought clean sophistication to the runway with beautifully fitted and elegant women’s ready to wear. Frankees Samad debuted her design with her personal modernizations of Islamic dress.

SFFAMA’s founder, Owen Geronimo, feels that San Francisco is now ready for a worldwide audience. “PRÊT-À-PORTER SF” 2011 is one of the many successful fashion events along, with Project San Francisco, The Beauty Expo, Fashion Feud, Fashion Mash-Up Workshops and San Francisco Fashion Week ™,  that SFFAMA has brought to fruition, which are all labors of love with strong community support.  One of SFFAMA’s main goals is to establish San Francisco as a global fashion destination and as a catalyst of fashion and technology convergence.  SFFAMA strongly believes in social good “to utilize fashion-to apply-to make impact” in our ongoing philanthropic efforts and mentorship program with our ‘Fashion4Good’ project.

The 100% Blue Agave LOS OSUNA is a beverage that springs up from the ashes of a past full with remembrances that for more than 130 years the Osuna family has gathered and kept. Its softness to the palate, achieved only and exclusively with the natural components that so kindly the Blue Agave gives us, places it as the finest and most exquisite of all beverages.

Its making brings together the visionary and tenacious spirit of the LOS OSUNA and the noble and brave spirit of the Sinaloense country people. Therefore, in the 100% Blue Agave LOS OSUNA, we get to make con-crete 40 years of remem-brances of a tradition that was taken away all of a sudden from the people of the State of Sinaloa.

Modewalk is a tale of Paris and Silicon Valley. Beatrice discovered the fascinating world of creativity and craftsmanship when she joined a study trip at Stanford to meet luxury designers in Paris. During her trip, the private studio visits and genuine stories told by designers swept her heart away. She came back wishing to share this experience with consumers worldwide.

Before attending Stanford, Henri founded two luxury brands in Paris, initially to support a flourishing designer. While growing his brands, Henri always wished to tell his unique stories to consumers. A creative idea presented itself when the two met and became friends at Stanford. Sharing a deep passion to connect designers with consumers, Beatrice and Henri combined Silicon Valley innovations with Parisian aesthetics to create the Modewalk dream.

Through these activities FNA members gain real life experience in fields such as; public relations, fashion journalism, event production, fashion marketing, fashion styling and fund raising.

Aveda, who partners with salon and spa professionals around the world, sees beauty as a craft, not as a product result. Aveda beauty professionals are unique in the industry for their pursuit of a higher art: helping make their clients not only look beautiful, but feel beautiful. This selfless quest to bring out the beauty in their client through genuine care, differs from beauty industry norms.

Empowered by its unique Mission, Aveda believes that authentic beauty is one that works in harmony with the greater web of life. It does not qualify as beauty if it hurts any of the diverse life forms that the best beauty artist of all, Nature, created. Authentic Beauty cares for the environment which we inherited from elders and will leave to generations that follow us. Beauty cares for the society in which we live, enhancing harmony in the way we live and interact with one another as human beings. In order to be Beauty, it also needs to be Good. Beauty is the result, but also the process followed in pursuing that result.
